OUR STORY (History)
Working Towards a Better Detroit
Rho Sigma Foundation (RSF) was established in 1999 by members of Rho Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan with the goal of expanding opportunities for its members to provide impactful service to the community with a specific emphasis on youth, women, and education. The foundation was granted its 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service in 2000. Early programs of the foundation included tutorial services (S.U.R.E. Program) in high need areas and an annual Youth Symposium, which continues today.

Welcome to the Rho Sigma Foundation, the heart of positive change and empowerment in the Metropolitan Detroit Community. I am honored to serve as the President of this remarkable organization and I’m excited to share our mission and vision with you.
At the Rho Sigma Foundation, we are driven by a deep commitment of continuing the legacy of our founding members of creating lasting impact in the Metropolitan Detroit Community. Our mission is clear to support community service projects that cultivate educational opportunities and champion civic programs that elevate the lives of women and children in our community. We believe that education, health and empowerment are the cornerstones of a thriving society, and our initiatives reflect that belief.
With the steadfast support of our dedicated members and compassionate volunteers we have been able to create and implement a wide range of programs that address critical needs within our community. From providing educational scholarships to organizing health and wellness workshops, we are investing in making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.

As we continue on our journey of leaving a legacy of enhancing the Metropolitan Detroit Community, we invite you to join hands with us. Your support, whether through donations, volunteering or simply spreading the word about our initiatives, plays a vital role in amplifying our impact. Together we can make a difference and create a brighter future for women and youth in our community.
